The Bluestone Collection was founded in 2010 by a group of craft supporters to build a collection that promotes contemporary Australian craft exhibition practice and fosters dialogue. As members of the craft community, the Bluestone Collection members work to encourage a high standard of exhibition work within Victoria and raise the profile of contemporary craft.

The collecting group donated their first 10-year collection, at it's maturity, to RMIT University and are now actively acquiring pieces for Bluestone II which will likewise be donated to a similar public institution for display and education once the collection reaches maturity in 2025. Currently the Bluestone II Collection stands at 17 pieces and growing!

The Bluestone II Collection exhibition and the forum Why We Collect are included in the Craft Contemporary satellite program.
